yesterday, i turned 22 and it’s amazing. but not that much and i was hoping it would be extremely better. by the way, it’s a good day for me to be happy and let’s celebrate.
but here, i’m gonna make a list of lessons i learned in my 22. i think it’s a good time to review my lessons from the year and i hope to write it for the next year too.
choosing not to follow fake and unreal wisdom (and also knowledge) is more important than following a true one.
working on the thing that you’re already a walking billboard for it will easily help you in almost every aspect.
before making any decision, make sure to check the reverse version of your solution.
you’re always a part of a network. so actively contribute, as much as you can. it will help you to be a better part of it.
never underestimate the aid that you can get from strangers along the way and unbelievably, the harder the things you’re working on, the bigger the help you get from strangers.
in the first days, you have to be a good person. but as much as you go, it somehow becomes your choice to be a good or bad one. always treat like you’re on day 1.
never waste your time on networking events. instead, try to be the person who deserves to be in the network you want and see how you will be added automatically.
never bet against the person whose key performance indicator is f”.
before implementing (and even thinking about) any advice, check the person who gives it and the stage you’re in.
never decide with your lazy and other bad versions. but before, you need to recognize those versions and it’s somehow a long and complicated process.
there are some ways to work harder without being burned out. find your own.
you’re not a dumb person. you just haven’t seen enough data and not being around great people.
always look further. it doesn't matter how much you gain. the more you look further, the more you gain.
most of the time, saying no will bring more respect for you than saying yes. but you tend to think reverse.
it’s a mistake to compete with people who you admire. it’s also a super-mistake to compete with the people who are not even in the place you want to be. instead of competition, work with them, help them, or ignore them.
never forget that you are the only person who knows most about your life.
never stop learning mathematics. it will make your metaphors root alive and it’s unbelievably a good way to understand your life when hard times come.
never compromise with someone who broke your principles. being uncompromising is much better than being easy to manipulate. you also don’t have extra time.
most people know their problems’ solutions and before suggesting or giving advice, make sure that the person doesn’t come to you just to be his/her listener.
best friends are people who are on the same (or similar) point of the distance between extremely conventional and extremely unconventional wisdom as you. you’ll have the best relationships with them.
PS1: i have collected these sentences from a lot of lessons i have learned this year and these are just the most important ones. :)
PS2: i will write 20 lessons learned in the years ahead too and “20” means nothing but a short number to make me more selective about the lessons.
PS3: there isn’t a meaningful order of the points and the order is somehow random.
